As Brad and Janet know, nothing is quite so nice as being invited to a party by rich weirdos, a costume party at that. As Bill frequently states in his comic strips “anything can happen”, and as with the original dizzying switch of drum between bar and hades, the dizzying switches between today, ancient Rome, and the Hundred Year’s War is trivial.

Enjoy some subtle ideas coming up: timelessness of the decadence of wealth, sexual exploitation of lower classes, intentional displacement, the power of costume, performative violence, and of course the gigantic cock of a peasant – big dumb and hung. Bill’s comic art happily using streams of cliches to turn us on a little, while getting a good laugh.

The laughter and joy from expert silliness begins to grow from this point forward in his work, as well the surprise of the characters speaking to the reader.
